Its a Thursday at the national institute of time

35mins
Still life work is still enjoyable, playing with shadow and what not, I perfer using human or animal subjects more than glass balls and what not, feel Im learning more about character features than when i was studying the later. Maybe I should do a long still life. Get something highly rendered and what not.

Reading is a pile of, okay I guess.

30 minute speedpaint
Considering Im back in Reading I thought I would do a quick speedpaint. This is a little stuffed bear that sits in my hallway, thought it was kind of fluffy, dont draw many fluffy things.

On other news, I forgot to bring my tablet mouse with me, this isnt a problem for drawing, however using 3DsMax now has a added challenge to it, it would seem.
Oh I also forgot to bring my lamp, so still lifes are going to look kind of dull in the afternoons, stupid light.

Oh yeah, and this stuff. Dont you love it when youre university gets you to do work for them, but make it part of your university projects? ...what that doesnt happen to you? Well youre obviously missing out. (If that sounds bitter, its not, Im fine with it, but still find it amusing.)

Back in Leicester

45 mins
Back in Leicester, moving into my new place took a good 4-5 days out of my work routine, I should have known it would, but oh well. I also blame playing Alpha Centauri, man that games addictive, yet very cool, I consider it the best of the civilisation games.

Well, this is my first still life in my new accommodation, its a little car I pinched from home, I quite like the design of it, which is why I took it. I need to become less rusty.

Character Progress
A fancier render than last time, threw her into Marmoset. Today I started to play around with specular and bump mapping. However I still haven't finished the Diffuse completely, I think I will try to go for a chipped paint effect on the red areas. As you can see, I still have not properly rendered out the diffuse for her ear yet. Im happy with where this is headed though. I do not remember what number character Im on since I started making characters, probably somewhere around about 7? I should also look into proper rigging. Also, try to catch up Saran, only a couple weeks to go! Oh nooo! I wonder what the next character will be.

Also going back to Leicester soon, I just hope there isn't any difficulty moving in. Bla bla bla!

Glass bastard
That glass thing got boring quick.

Still Life- Plums in water

Been studying feet this morning. Complicated little things. I think my tradiational sketches this morning are better than the photostudy. I think I spent a bit too long on this, wasnt really neccacary. Oh whell.
Still life with some plums, decided to put them in water just to see what they'd look like, they floated for  while but when i got to painting them they fell, bit lame. Took an hour, natural lighting for the win!  Infact the lighting was so bright Im not sure how grey the achual image is, cant see it from glare and stuff. :I

High poly Model

Low Polly model
Man am I sick of these models. Took the low polly into zbrush, zbrush messed up the low polly mesh along with the bump map and deformed the low polly. The maps had all sorts of problems, major head aches all over. Im pretty tired of these models at the moment. So Im going to start a new charcter, and forget about these. Im so fed up with them, texturing the bodys in detail is too draining to do at the moment. Just slow pased. :L Also I've come to realise his head looks tiny, that sucks.

High top cop!
Still life

Im begining to think all my studying is beginingto pay off, im quite happy with the result of that copper, didnt have have referances for the person at all, referanced the clothes though, I dont know what New york police look like. Perhaps I could tie this character in with my race track... Probably not.

Duffy statue is coming along, took it into zbrush and back out to retype. Trying to cut the tri count down now, 7K is too much for a sculpture.

Morning practice

Im Ready for Skyrim
 Hawk with a fro hawk
Robert Moore
Photostudy of woman
Still Life 30 Minutes. Zorki-4 Camera.

Its always a good idea to get a quick study in before working on something bigger. Be it an Illustration or texturing your 3D assets. This however was a bit to complex and object for a good 30 minute study. Worth a try though.

Sculpty Press

Decided to quickly paint my girlfriend's sculpty press, I on the other hand, am not fond of that material, looks cool though. In other news, tonsillitis is annoying and having your wisdom teath grow in afterwards is a greater annoyance.

Tesco's Flowers

I bought some flowers from Tesco today, these were only £4. Again, painting a few things I hate to paint, Glass and water, for some reason, theyre the things I hate to paint the most, but always seem to end up painting. Wanted to spend a good 5-6 hours on this, only managed 3, although it doesnt look like it. Although In those 3 hours some of the leaves have started to die. Bit of a shame.
I used to have a history teacher who said that painting flowers is easy and is a crapy painting, or whatever, I can quite easily say, the man never painted flowers. They're hard to paint, and under good lighting, look pretty cool. I think Ill paint these again.

Coins Revisit

As I rarely ever comment on my own blog, I think I've been coming across as some kind of, strange machine, submitting work to a dead blog. So to counter this, I think I should say just a little bit about the pices I submit, or the thigns going on in daily life.

This was a revisit of one of my older pictures, basicaly I collect all my old coins, like a particular stereotype and take them down to Morrisons to exchange them for fine ales. Only problem with this is I have to get the change first. Last time, I saved up to £8.70p or something. Im not close to that yet, and Im -£1 from scavanging all the 10p coins.

Oh well, just been working on character modeling in my spare time! I have a bunch of projects in my desk draws and so many distractions. Work work.
