Working boat horsebox bar

During the lockdowns I wanted to remake this little horsebox bar which was used as a bar when pubs could only serve outside.

I made a high poly and got it down to 20k triangles and I was pretty happy with it.

I mainly just wanted to the exterior of it, but I managed to get some shots of the interior after it opened up again later in the year and made a bit of a start on it.

3D Vagante bits

During summer I had some fun trying to make assets for a 3D version of Vagante that I was trying to put together in Unity. I thought I made a decent start, but there was a few hang ups and work stopped a few months later. I think my main problem was trying to do a project that was too big, things just didn't get finished properly and some structured planning would have helped.

Some little screenshots of all the bits together. I struggled to find a good way to make a tile based rocky environment, that blended together where the tiles could also be destroyed and not look out of place. I think I have a way to do it looking back on it now.

I started it off by trying to make a simple slime monster that would change shape to a little spiky ball, I tried to keep the same silhouette as the original sprite

I was interested in how to morph it to the spiky ball form, it seemed a good way was to model it out of a sphere-ised cube, which caused less pinching.
I also tried to recreate the eye bats! I got it to fly around and do some biting. I think they're meant to have a little tail, but I turned it into a tongue and mouth.

Magnolia - monster

I made a little fired egg demon, from Ragnarok Online called Magnolia. It's about 3,000 triangles, I could get it lower but it's just a quick little project for fun. The textures are just plane PBRs without maps apart from the pan, I wanted to get some more texture on there but it looks like what I did didn't end up in the renders I put together.

The face and beak are just separate objects, maybe if I hid it's face under the whites and flipped it over for its animations, I could do a nice sculpt for it...

It has an idle, attack, hit, "walk", and death animation.

It was good to play around again with modeling and rigging, its been a few years and it looks like the tech has really moved a lot from what I remember.

Chainlocker and oils

Spent some time paiting at Chainlocker, didn't quite finish it, but that's okay.

I've been doing some oil paintings recently, these are 15 minute paintings to try and get better at mixing the right colours each time. I find I get to a stage of "thats close enough" but with a time limit it makes it harder to get nit-picky.

Seven Stars interior, Falmouth

Did some painting at a Cafe today, but they closed early so I couldn't finish it. Naturally I ended up at the Seven Stars. This little cabinet seemed pretty cool. Something about elongated windows like this make me think of churches. But, maybe the church pews for seats put that thought in my mind.
The pub seemed very Bass brewery themed.
I think I should have done a few thumbnails before jumping into painting. There was a few diagonal lines in the wood work/plaster of the wood wall and in the hallway between rooms, with the top of the cabinet how it is, it makes it look like my perspective is really off. It probably is, but I could have avoided it by finding a less awkward angle to paint...

Dogs in Space!

A friend of mine tried to explain a game to me, the described it as dogs in space fighting pirates. We never did find out what the game was called, but I think it would be a pretty entertaining game.

Things to draw 2

More images from my book for things to draw. Im trying to keep the book just black and white to work on my inking, it makes images like "a rainbow " a bit more challenging to think of a concept that works.

Paintings dump

I should get used to scanning or photographing these after I finish them. The scanner doesn't help them much either, creates a lot of blur on some of these.
